What is Sculptra?

Sculptra works differently from traditional fillers. It is a unique collagen replenishing treatment that helps to gradually and subtly reduce lines, wrinkles and folds. Sculptra’s main ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid, works from deep within the skin’s layers to correct the underlying problem that causes the line or wrinkle. Sculptra helps to restore lost volume by replenishing your own facial collagen, the substance your body produces to give your skin a firm and youthful appearance, giving you a fuller, more natural look.

What happens during your consultation?

Our aesthetics nurse, Ros Bown, will carefully listen to your concerns and discuss with you the best course of treatment to attain your desired goals. Each stage of the process will be fully explained to you during this initial consultation and throughout your treatment plan.

During the treatment

Initially, your face is thoroughly cleansed. A cream is then applied to numb the skin. Photos will be taken of your face and you will be examined to decide which areas need treatment. The treatment itself will take around 30 minutes, and either a cannula, needle or both will be used depending on your needs. Your face will be then be massaged to ensure the product is evenly distributed.

After the treatment

Massage should be performed for 5 minutes, 5 times a day over the first 5 days. After the first 5 days, massage twice daily for 5 minutes for the following 6 weeks.

Massage is especially important after Sculptra treatment as it ensures the even distribution of the product in the tissue and ensures collagen production occurs evenly.

After treatment, you should notice gradual results over the next several weeks. It takes approximately six weeks to see the effects and these continue to develop for up to a year after treatment.
