What is a Muscle Relaxant?

The repeated action of muscles results in the formation of wrinkles and facial lines. These include the forehead, between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and fine lines around the mouth.

Botulinum Toxin (Muscle Relaxant) is injected into specific facial muscles causing them to relax. The muscles are then no longer able to flex, thereby stopping the formation of lines and wrinkles.

The improvement will be visible within a few days and will last for anything up to 3 – 6 months. Then, as the months go by, you will notice a gradual fading of its effect, at which point you can return for a new treatment.

The main areas to benefit from Muscle Relaxant treatment are the glabella (the area between the eyebrows), frown lines on the forehead and crow’s feet. It can be combined with other treatments around the mouth, neck, and hands.

In addition, Muscle Relaxant injections have been used very successfully to treat excessive sweating of the underarm, face and the palms of the hands.

What happens during your consultation?

Our aesthetics nurse, Ros Bown, will carefully listen to your concerns and discuss with you the best course of treatment to attain your desired goals. Each stage of the process will be fully explained to you during this initial consultation and throughout your treatment plan.

During the treatment

A thin needle is used to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated and the results desired.

After the treatment

Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours. This will help prevent the toxin from spreading to a different area. You can return to your normal activities right after the procedure.
